PERRY MASON CAST

Perry Mason is the longest running lawyer series in American TV history for nine years. All the cast and crew member put in their full effort for this whole success. The creator of this series is Erle Stanley Gardner who in childhood was a big fan of Youth Magazine; this magazine was published by a company named as Perry Mason Company. He borrowed the title from here to give name to his fictional attorney show.

The character of Perry Mason was played by Raymond Burr. He was born in New Westminster, British Columbia. Before stepping into big screen he worked in theaters in Canada and the US.

In the year 1957 Burr landed with role of Perry Mason and continued it for successive nine years. Burr's personality was such tied to character of Perry Mason that the audiences refused to accept any other cast in the role of Perry Mason. For this character, Burr won Emmy awards in 1959 and 1961, by the American Bar Association. He once again returned to his role in 1985 as Perry Mason in 23 TV movies, and continued it till his final episode in 1993, 'The Case of the Killer Kiss' shortly before he died of the Pancreatic cancer.

Another lead character of Perry Mason Series was the secretary of Mason named as Della Street. Della is a beautiful and faithful secretary who always helps Mason. This character was casted by Barbara Hale. Barbara began her career as a model for comic strip named "Ramblin Bill". She worked in many Hollywood films before landing in Perry Mason series, in the role of an efficient secretary. Perry Mason is accompanied by a private detective, Paul Drake. He helps Mason in solving the case most of the times by presenting last minute surprise witnesses. This character was played by William Hopper, a son of gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.

Perry Mason along with Della and Paul forms a team to fight for justice. They are challenged by the Los Angeles District Attorney Hamilton Burger, who never wins a single case against Mason in over 250 episodes. This character was casted by William Tallman, who began his career through smaller stage roles playing mostly gangster.
