PERRY MASON EPISODES

In the whole history of American television series Perry Mason is the lawyer show which has been in operation for consecutive nine year. The main character of this series is a lawyer of Los Angeles, named as Mason. This character was played by Raymond Burr.

He is accompanied by two other team mates, his faithful and beautiful secretary Della Street and urbane private detective Paul Drake whose characters were played by Barbara Hale and William Hopper respectively.

The basic storyline of all episodes revolves around a murder case in which an innocent person is claimed to be criminal. Mason and his team fights for justice taking side of the accused innocent client, and fights against the frightening district attorney Hamilton Burger, a character played by William Tallman. The most common scenario is that Mason plots a legal trick by which not only his client is proved to be innocent but also the real culprit is identified. Every episode seems to be realistic and is outstanding. Other common factor in every episode is that the real criminal is present in the courtroom itself during the trial and who admits his guilt in the end due to smartness of Mason's trio.

Even though Perry Mason's series is identified as a lawyer drama, it is more of a detective series. In fact this series serves as an inspiration to other detective series. Although basic ingredients in all episodes remains the same, taste of each episode varies due to the spices added by detective work of Mason's team who uses the legal profession and trial situation as major pillars in their every case.

Success of this series is shared equally by Burr, the Perry Mason and the series creator Gardner. As an executive story editor, Gardner took care of creating a perfect mixture of legal drama and clever detective work. Burr played the character in such a cool way as a calculating attorney that when the series was restarted with new castings no one accepted Monte Markham in the character of Mason and the new version survived hardly for 15 episodes. This proved that success of the original series was its casting.
